Home-Assistant

A self-hosted garage entry system built with RatGDO, an ESP32-driven Wiegand keypad/RFID reader, MQTT, Node-RED, and Home Assistant. I get per-user codes, time-based access rules, and a full audit log. Everything runs on my local network with no cloud and no monthly fee to anyone.

A networked e-ink office status sign built on a Seeed reTerminal E1002, driven by Home Assistant over a hardened mutual-TLS MQTT pipeline, with a phone PWA remote and deep-sleep battery management.

To decrease my reliance on proprietary software solutions, increase data sovereignty, and reduce subscriptions, I am using Home Assistant: an open-source software package that is like a super “smart home hub.”
